영문 지원서 ④ 커버레터(Cover Letter) 작성 법

 

 

Cover Letter?

 

 

Cover Letter는 국문 자소서와 성격이 다릅니다.

Cover letter는 기업 관계자가 Resume를 열기 전에 보는 일종의 비지니스 레터로서,

 

지원자 입장에서 관계자가 중점적으로 봐줬으면

하는 본인의 핵심 역량과 인터뷰 요청에 대한 당부를 담고 있습니다.

 

때문에 '형식적인' 성격이 강한 문서로서 최근에는 cover letter를 요구하지 않는 경우도 많으므로

지원 전에 해당 문서의 제출 여부를 확인해야 합니다.

 

Cover Letter 작성법

 

 

Cover letter를 요구 받았다면, 별도의 문서 양식 없이 MS워드 빈 화면을 기준으로

아래의 구조에서 작성하는 것이 일반적입니다.

 

① Profile

-본인 이름

-지원직무

-본인의 연락처(주소, 이메일, 전화) 정보

 

② 서론

-수신자

-편지쓰는 이유(공고를 보게 된 경로, 지원 이유)

 

<작성예시>

Dear Department of Human Resources or Personnel Manager

I am writing to apply for the position of <insert role title> at <Company name>,

which was advertised online at SEEK.

 

③ 본론

-직무와 관련한 핵심 역량 요약

 

<작성예시>

I have enclosed my CV to support my application.

It shows that I would bring important skills to the position, including:

 

<Experience>

I have six years’ experience working on the shop floor in two highly competitive industries

 

<Skills>

Managed both scheduled and unscheduled tasks for 10 team members, ensuring smooth office operations

 

<Performance>

In my time at my current place of employment I have signed on 85 new clients and exceeded sales targets

by 20% in consecutive years.

 

④ 결론

-회사 지원동기 및 해당 포지션에 적임자라고 생각하는 이유

-감사 표현 및 인터뷰 기회 요청

-Sincerely yours, Kindest regards,

-본인 이름

 

<작성예시>

'Company name' has been of interest to me since embarking on its mega store approach to retail.

This is ideal for 21st century sales of flooring products.

I was also impressed with the profile of your managing director Rod Smythe,

which I read in the Retail journal late last year.

 

I would enjoy having the opportunity to talk with you more about this position,

and how I could use my skills to benefit your organisation.
